Steel doors
Steel doors are undoubtedly one of the strongest and most resistant elements to use, but in order to preserve their brilliance and all their aesthetic characteristics it is important to take the right precautions when carrying out routine maintenance and thorough cleaning.
What to avoid
- Never use abrasive detergents (even powdered ones) or abrasive materials such as steel wool pads.
- Do not apply acid detergents, acetone, trichloroethylene, muriatic acid, ammonia or thinners in general to the door.
- Never leave the surfaces wet, as substances present in the water, such as salts, iron and limescale, could oxidise or corrode the surfaces.
- Do not allow splashes of citrus juice, cola, coffee, salt, tomato, wine or iodine to remain on the surfaces: they can permanently stain the surface of the door.
How to clean
- For routine cleaning it is preferable to use water or specific products for cleaning steel, always drying thoroughly with a soft cloth (preferably microfibre or buckskin).
- In any treatment, always rub in the direction of the satin finish if present (in this case, therefore, avoid circular movements).
- If water stains are present, remove them using a specific product.
- In the case of persistent stains (limescale or greasy substances), wipe with a soft cloth soaked in denatured alcohol or boiling white vinegar and immediately rinse the surface with soapy water or a specific product.
