TOWARDS A MORE SUSTAINABLE DESIGN
What is it?
Sustainable design, or also known as eco design, is the design of a product that respects the environment and thus reduces the negative impact on it.
It is a concept that not only implies the use of sustainable materials, but also applies to its conception, design, production, use and disposal.
This concept came to light in the early 1970s, but it was not until the 1990s that the effect of producing a product on the environment began to be examined.
THE PRINCIPLES OF ECO-DESIGN
It is based on six factors:
- The use of sustainable, recycled and recyclable materials
- Energy saving and reduction of consumption
- The quality and durability of the product
- The guarantee of providing a second life to the product
- The presence of a diversity of materials to simplify disassembly and recycling
- The use of renewable resources
What is sustainable design?
When we talk about ecodesign, we mean sustainable design, i.e. conscious design based on three main concepts:
– The cyclical nature of production
– The use of renewable energy
– The safety of production
This type of design is advantageous for companies as it reduces consumption and waste and consequently also costs.
Vama Kitchens and green design
For years, Vama has been committed to sustainability through the use of low-emission materials. One example is the use of PET, a 100 % recyclable, environmentally friendly material.
In addition, VAMA has introduced the REP P3 panel, a water-repellent chipboard with low formaldehyde content, certified and compliant with formaldehyde classes F4 STARS – CARB P2 US EPA TSCA Title VI.
Finally, VAMA uses environmentally friendly RENNER paints certified Greenguard Gold for the production of its collections.
In conclusion, it is essential to take care of our planet to ensure a better future. In this sense, design also plays an important role in safeguarding our ecosystem.
